James 2:14

The following studies have helped me to arrive at what I believe is a more accurate understanding of James 2:14 and the surrounding context. This passage is consistently used by both the cults and evangelicals to try to justify adding man’s works to the free-grace Gospel of justification by faith alone. It is also frequently used by many of the Lordship Salvation/reformed persuasion to try to establish that if a person is truly a believer that he will necessarily persevere in good works and will not seriously backslide or deny the faith. These studies show not only what the message is not, but that the passage does contain a very important message for us to know and apply.
